I really liked it so far. I think it reminds me of Graham Green, as it makes me remember that faith is a complicated issue. As a Catholic I think we are all influenced by cults, but the occult seems to be my particular interest too without touching the tarot cards. I think alchemy is what makes up the human race's fascination with art. Keep up the good work.

I also put He is Risen on Social Media too. I also watch the Passion on Good Friday for the past few years, about 5. But for 2021, I said, after 2020, "not this year. Maybe next year." It felt like a wise but sane decision. Jesus, more than anyone, understands.

Also just wanted to let you know that I still have a copy of Shalimar the Clown signed when you came to DC for the book festival, when you were promoting the Enchantress of Florence. I asked "how are you" and you said, "I'm just trying to get the line down." I thought that was pretty funny. I always remembered how funny that was. You came early after you spoke.

Have a great Sunday.

Well worth the price of admission so far! I'm eager to read along. I'm also intrigued by the new format and the serialization. Glad that you are still experimenting and keeping it fresh, not just on the page but with regard to medium as well.

This is fantastic, perhaps even better than The Golden House, which is my personal favorite of your work, though it's too soon to make such a proclamation. I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment. Thank you for sharing this with all of us!

What complex characters. They say for the ones drowning will clutch at a straw.

She needs to find meaning - in part to soothe or distract from her anxiety; he has accepted there is none (meaning, probably) but a part of him still wishes he shared her hopeful indecision.

These striking and effectively familiar opposites—Anna, drawn to the liminal spaces, the soft frontier between what is solid and dependable and what is fluid and metamorphic vs Francis, who believes in his rock-hard certainties—drew me in and left me wanting more, as did your vivid language. In other words, I eagerly await your next installment.
