I love this. So far, I haven't been able to watch more than one hour of the doc, because I find it emotionally overwhelming. (We're close in age.) So many memories and feelings flood over me. I'm glad you were able to articulate how it felt to you--and you're a brave man to weather the experience!
Jackson is doing incredible and admirable work with his studio and funds. His WWI restored footage was mind-blowing--so moving. (Makes me ponder the black-and-white vs colour in film.)
And now this. Gifts to all of us. I'm so grateful. Seeing the Beatles' process was inspiring as a writer. Process is not something we get to poke around in!
That sounds amazing. To be part of history like that. I'm not a live music person by any means but that must have been amazing. And having such a moment like that must be astounding. I think "Octopuses Garden" is probably one of my favorite Beatles songs ever cause I remembered listening to it on family trips in my dads van. It had a love seat bed that could fold down. The bottom of it was disastrous. It got hot because there wasn't much separating the hot fur from the bottom of the van (don't quote me on this but it wasn't safe and I have to think about more details why that was). It was amazing yet dangerous. But that made me remember that precious memory. While I"m not a fan, I do think the Beatles deserve their place in music history. Agree or am I just blabbering on too much Anyways, thanks for writing this and keep doing a fantastic job.
My dad loves The Beatles. It was the first music I ever listened to that I remember from a very young age. For some reason, any mention of the band is tied to the memory of him and me on the porch swing overrun by bougainvillea. He played select songs constantly from cassette tapes, those he happened to record from the radio.
You've got this really special way of writing that makes just about anything feel accessible and grounded (even a band whose emotional heft I'll probably never truly understand a generation removed). This was a pleasure to read!
Really nicely written. I was born a long time after the Beatles phenomenon so I only know and love the greatest hits, but I'm very much looking forward to watching the documentary. (More so after reading this.)
History in the making! Yes, I often wonder about history and all the observers. most of us in fact our observers. One day I would like to write a story about the observers

Such a nostalgia trip! Haroon and the sea of stories is one of my all time favourites and now I look forward eagerly to Salman's sea of stories!

Thank you for sharing your piece here.
The poor cop was a kid, just struggling to do his job. I feel sorry for him and irritated at the culture which led to his unfortunate response.
And all.
Wow! Hope you're not just commenting on this to promote the film! Due to the timing an all.

Wonderful! Only if he could jot down such invaluable gems in the form of a book!
