I found a country that fascinated and moved me, and it has remained close to my heart. Today I need to talk about the new anguish into which Nicaragua has been plunged.

"Another brutal Latin American dictator" looks a bit hyperbolic. Perhaps you should add "U.S. American", "British", "French", ... and you'll get a more accurate idea of dictatorship geographical span. As for truth, what is truth if not beauty on the way to the supermarket?
